Historic background

Klovsky liceum ¹ 77 is a specialized educational establishment. It was founded on the basis of the specialized (majoring in English) high-school ¹ 77 and is one of the best high-schools of Pechersky region in Kyiv. In 2000 the liceum celebrated its 100th anniversary.

This school provides the opportunity for clever and talented pupils to get the elite education of the highest level . The teaching staff of the liceum tries to digress from the soviet unified school stereotype.

Innovations

In 1993 the school has got the new status: the liceum of foreign languages.

The structure of the liceum is the following: pupils of the 1-7 specialized classes are majoring in English since the 1^st form, since the 2^nd form they are majoring in Russian, and since the 5^th form - in German, Franch and Korean ; the 1-4th years of the liceum correspond to the 8-11^th forms of the high-school, and here students continue to learn the mentioned languages with the subdivision into two departments: humanities and natural sciences. After the 8^th form all the pupils can participate in the competition and take the liceum entrance exams.

The liceum’s psychological service assists in completing the 1^st form with clever and talented children, in diagnosting the students’ creativity, in developing their interests during the years of studying.

The liceum’s teaching stuff strives to constantly change, they work on elaboration and probation of new effective methods and forms of educating and up-bringing (method of developing education at primary and high-schools). These furthers each pupils’ individual education and up-bringing, development of his or her capabilities, steady interest for self-education and self-expression via different activities.

The Outcomes

In the liceum they teach more than 20 subjects and 5 foreign languages. There are also specialized and elective courses, they practise individual work with students.

The educating process provides the high level of knowledge: 100% of the graduates become university students, yearly 2-3 students win foreign schollarships.

The liceum has steady connections with Kyiv leading universities and scientific institutions, having made the deals on cooperation. The teaching stuff has professional relations with many corresponding foreign institutions and is constantly developing the cooperation. They also practise to join to the teaching process the experts from the USA, Great Britain, Germany and Korea.

The liceum has the unique museum of the school’s history. It contains the exclusive materials about the teachers, pupils and their families. The steady school traditions combined with the new forms and ideas are very important for the process of forming spiritual and moral vision of the students, for developing their national consciousness and for bringing up an educated and cultured young person.

The educating materials meet all the modern standards. The liceum has more than 40 class-rooms, few gyms and work-shops.

The school has 4 theatre groups, 3 choirs, 3 sport sections. Students communicate with producers, actors, artists, painters, musicians. There are some other forms of extracurrcular activity.
